Since 2002, Elsie has been President of Myers Martin
Consulting, LLC and consults primarily with small organizations
on strategic challenges. She has special interest in
the arts and education. She comes with over twenty-five
years of experience working as an internal consultant
at a large, investor-owned electric and gas utility.
At the utility, she worked on a wide range of decision
problems, including cancellation of a nuclear power
plant and priority setting for the more than $200 million
poles & wires operating budget.
Elsie's education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Her major was mathematics. She also has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a Master of Science in Operations Research and Systems Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Decision Analysis has been an interest for Elsie since
graduate school. She likes the framework it provides
for any type of decision, and the challenge it requires
to adapt mathematical axioms to real world issues. Building
on her liberal arts background and belief that we must
nurture both the creative and logical sides of our brain,
one of her dreams is to use dance to explain the logical
concepts of decision analysis.
Elsie grew up in Washington, D.C. and Cape Breton,
Nova Scotia. Minnesota is now home. The teacher in her
stays alive by tutoring math at a Minneapolis public
school. With Ray, her husband of more than thirty years,
she has two wonderful children who are now launched
on their own journeys to find their way in the world.
