Ray is a consultant in health care finance with a masters
degree and over twenty-five years experience in not-for-profit
business management. He has an in-depth knowledge of
the health care industry, having worked in large and
small health care organizations (both providers and
payors). He has lived through and facilitated several
mergers.
Health care has been his interest beginning with a
college independent study on family planning and first
job out of college as an STD epidemiologist for the
U.S. Public Health Service. He is increasingly concerned
by the lack of comprehensive healthcare coverage in
the United States and understands the vital role played
by safety net providers.
Ray's education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. His major was sociology. He also has a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ray grew up in Decatur, GA, spending the summers of
his youth and young adult life at a camp near Asheville,
NC. He lives in Minnesota now where he sings bass in
church choir, serves on the board of a credit union
and tries hard to balance the demands of job and personal
life. He takes great pride in his family wife
Elsie of over thirty years, a son, a daughter and golden
retriever Joss.
